Tuning is a huge issue , you could sink tons of cash into engine mods but if its not tuned right it won't run right and you will be pissed. Can't help you out on tuners though I live in Southern Ontario. Best bet is to talk to others in your area and get their feedback. Any bike shows in your area coming up? That would be a good place to get some info, talk to some of the local builders etc.

The SERT is a good tool. However, if the Powercommander is a great tool because of the availability of tuners, the SERT is the exact opposite.
HD doesn't support, and with the EPA requirements, its easy to see why, a website that freely exchanges SERT maps. You're pretty much stuck with the maps that come on the CD. Then if you want it tuned, it's difficult to find a HD that actually knows what it's doing. Unfortunately, there are some dealers out there that will charge you for a custom map and all they've done is downloaded a stock map close to your config. Given the fact you're using the stock ECM - the SERT sounds great, but getting it dialed in is going to be tough. Find a tuner first, then make your purchase decision? That may be the best advice. |

I ended up not using any of the above. When I added the Rinehart slip ons and the big sucker breather on my 04 ultra, I took it to an independent tuner who custom programmed the original ECM to my riding style. He said he has a Delta machine that allows him to tune the original ECM. He gave me my map on a memory stick and said if I didn't lose the stick, he could do any future tuning with just a half an hour of dyno time.
I hope he never goes out of business
