Default Question about Rienhart slip-ons

I just had my 04 FLHTCUI Ultra tuned on a dyno after adding a big sucker stage one breather and Rienhart slip-ons. I was hoping the exhaust would be louder. I'm wondering if Rienhart is putting quieter baffles in their slip-ons? I'm happy with the way the bike is tuned, it seems to run well and the throttle is much more responsive now, although I did give up some low RPM torque. I'm just disappointed that these Rienharts seem quieter than the cheap ass Kerkers that were on it.

Rinehart slipons are typically on the quiet side. So are the true duals until you cam a bike. A set of cams would make them sound much better.

Moms has Rinehart true dual on her Road King and while they sound good they don't have the bark that they do on Speedbager's bike with high lift cams.

I know Rinehart is no longer making the loud baffles for their true duals, which is no big loss. They didn't sound that great and they caused a pretty good drop in power. Nonetheless there does seem to be a trend towards quieter pipes at Rinehart as well as the MOCO.

Thanks Chris! That's kinda what I was thinking. Guess I'll live with quiet pipes for another 35,000 miles or so, at which time I'll hopefully be able to afford doing the 98" and cams and get rid of the tensioner etc. I might dual it out before then knowing that it will cost me horsepower after the future upgrades. I like the look of the true duals.

So do I. If I wasn't so addicted to horsepower I would have left the Rinehart true duals on my Road King.

I just finished Donny Petersen's book and it is a pretty interesting read even if you think you know your way around the twin cam. I was surprised by his straightforward approach to discussing the pros and cons of how it works and modifications. Take a look at if you get a chance. I'm sure SM knows a lot of this, but I learned some things I did not know.

I learned a lot from Donny's first volume as well. I was at his shop a couple weeks ago and he is working hard on the second volume, which should go to press early this summer and be available in August.

Just an FYI ... Donny is a very methodical and thorough man. He sets aside six hours per day to work on his writings. That doesn't include the material he has written in years gone past, which is going into his book series.

He told me he knows he won't make any appreciable money from the books, but he is leaving one hell of a legacy.
