STARTER????

A couple of months ago I noticed the Bike wasnt' starting as easily as it use too. Then one day it just wouldn't start. I stuck a new battery in it, and it was running again, It still wasn't starting too good.
This morning I went to start it and the starter just makes a solid Click.
I'm guessing that these things are alot like car starters with a starter and a solenoid? I can feel the soledoid clicking, But No motor turning.
What do I need to replace? Can I fix the starter? Replace the Solenoid? replace the whole starter?

It's good to hear from ya Bugs!
As far as the starter goes, it seems to me you should be able to replace the solenoid if that's what's keeping it from engaging.
Some others here will know for sure.

I traded my Fatboy in partially because I was having electrical issues with it .. You need to come ride on one of the monthly rides to Buffalo once ya get it figured out though .. We was starting to think the Austinites no longer existed around here ...

I only been riding to work and back. Too freaking broke to afford that High dollar gas just to go out and have fun.

I'm wondering if you have a short somewhere that is pulling your voltage down. Try using a multi-meter and put it across your battery posts. Try to start your bike and watch your voltage at the same time. If it starts out at 12 and drops out when you crank it you must have a short somewhere.
This would be a good first step.

Turns out I posted on the old site and got the right answer.I had some loose connections. After tightnenin them it starts better than it ever has

I been ok. Last year was a Busy one. This year not so much. But since thanksgiving I been sick a couple of times, for two weeks at a time.
Then I got Cat Scratch Fever and lost vision in my left eye. Its coming back and hopefully things will be normal in a month or so.

DAMMITT Tom sorry I asked how ya been :shock: sounds a little rough. I had the sick twice shit, got over the crud after almost a month, then last week it started again. Cat Scratch fever was just a Great Ted song I thought, hope you can get all of your sight back soon my friend! Hope to see ya soon! Keep in touch a bit more :wink:
