Default Chain Case Lube

I was curious, after doing my service on my Ultra, how you visually tell if your primary oil is high enough? After adding the recommended amount it looks like the oil just comes into contact with the bottom side of the chain. This is with the bike sitting level on a lift in a tire vice.
Would that be a good way to do a visual on the oil level?
Any opinions?

Like Ram said throw a qt in and go..There is a sight for the level but with the clutch pak so close to the outer primary cover on the newer models it's almost useless.. If your bike does not have a automatic chain adjuster you will still have a primary chain adjustment cover. Look in that hole with your bike level and the oil should be in the area of the bottom of the adjustment shoe.If your chain is not worn out.. It's a splash and drip system and realy all the oil you need is enough for the ring gear for the starter on the clutch pak to drag thru it to sling oil...

Thats what I thought. When you look down thru the clutch cover you can see that the chain is just touching the top of the oil. Must be quite a cyclone of oil flying around in there when your doing 100...

Yea :bellylaugh: you don't want to loose on of those covers a 100!!! You will be dripping oil for a month no matter how many times you wash your bike
