Default 05 Fatty Pipe Conversion

A friend has a 2005 Anniversary Fatboy with the 95" from the factory.
Fuel injected. Factory air cleaner, (which may or may not be a higher
flow, the blue one)
Stock head pipes, and SE II slipons.
If he were to replace his exhaust with either a Vance and Hines pro
pipe, or a Rinehart 2 in to 1, will he also need a power commander, etc,
or a dealer reflash, or will he be OK the way it is?
Thanks

If it is indeed just the exhaust...he "may" not need to donwload a new map....."if" the air cleaner is NOT high flow....BUT....he would be crazy not have a high flow air kit on thier...CRAZY!!!! LOL

Changing out both....answer is "always"....changing out just exhaust answer is maybe...if he does not have the doe for the high airflow kit(ebay) then I would change out the pipes and take it for a ride...Bike will tell ya

Cheers

If the bike is running the stock ECM map and he puts a 2 in to 1 pipe on it he needs to adjust the fuel delivery - no if ands or buts about it.

I would recommend a PCIII myself. I have had them on 3 EFI bikes and they are simple to work with and get the job done. Not to mention most dyno operators are familiar with them.

BP if he has the blue air filter and I suppose the black back on it is missing then it is a SE filter but a K&N would help a lot more. I agree with the other guys if he changes pipes then he needs to go with the PCIII and have it tuned correctly. Anytime you change anything in the setup of a bike it has to be tuned for that setup. Always!

GUys I can tell you from personal exoperience<friends bike> you DO NOT "have" to remap, if yiou just replace the pipes....V&H doesn't even have a feul pac for just pipe chages.....BPU....

Again your friend "should" add a High air flow kit, but if he doesn't, tell him to just watch the spark plugs, or listen for the popping etc....

What are the apperances of the plugs for lean and rich conditions? Does K&N make a replacement for the HD SE air filter?
