If you were building a motor, and you were not going with a bolt on kit out of a catalog. Which piston manufacturer would you use and why? For clarity lets say this is a stock 88 motor going to 95.

I like Wiseco............. I've had good luck with them and price wise they are about the best bang for the buck.. I also have had good luck with TRW and Aries.. (spelling?)
Years ago I use to have to calculate piston speed as as to install an appropriate piston in the engine to handle the load placed on the piston but today's materials used in forged pistons. I don't even bother. Just stick with a well known brand and HD stuff is good also Curley

JE's are good, however remember that when using a forged piston, warm up times are needed. A cast piston does not need a warm up time. Harley pistons are hard to beat for a cast piston and the price is good...

Not so with cast..... For the economy minded, and peeps that want a dead bone reliable bike. Harley Cast pistons are the way to go.. just ask any major engine builder... |
