One of our guys on here - RamMedic - had a problem with pinging after installing a set of S&S 510G cams until he installed the SE ignition. I'm not sure how the TW37 cams compare, but the SE ignition definitely helped his bike.

I would imagine it will still retard the timing slightly, which should raise your power band slightly.

Noop, I tried it on a stock 05 carb bike. The dyno said so.

Just for clarity's sake ... I was suggesting that retarded timing would move peak power higher in the RPM range, but not increase max power. I could have stated that clearer.

I can't say I have ever observed an engine on the dyno not have the power band move around - even slightly - when advancing, or retarding the timing.

My ride at the time had only cams intake oil pump and exhaust. The SE ignition gave ma a higher rev limiter but actualy cost me some power. I did not see the power band change, but was not looking for that, just more hp. I took it out and put in the HD race tuner for ignition only, with hopes of using it for future builds. That got replaced with a Daytona TT.

I have one on a 2004 Night Train (carb). I didn't notice much difference at all. The bike is still pretty much stock, aside from Thunderslide, pipes and air cleaner.

She can rev up a lot higher, but other than that, not much difference. The bike runs good though.
