Is there really such as thing as cold tire pressure when it's 90* outside first thing in the morning?
Just been thinking. If at say 50* my tire is suppose to be 40psi. Is it still suppose to be 40psi when it's 90*. If I'm not mistaken, it's all relative right? |

The psi ranges that the manual gives you are always for cold tires, they allow for a tire warming up and expanding. Even at 90 degrees and sitting overnight you have a cold tire, the heat that transfers through the tire after use, which greatly expands the molecules in the tire is what they are allowing for. I have heard some lower their psi 5 points in extrememly hot weather, this stays within the safe range, but none the less accounts for the heat....I keep both front and back at 35 psi for my dunlops no matter what the temp outside

Yep, I keep my Avons set to 38 Front and 40 Rear which is a touch above the numbers for Dunlops on my bike. Like everybody else I check them cold before the bike has been moved no matter what the ambient air temp is. 8)
