Default dyno time

i got my dyno time scheduled for thursday am. whoo hoo. Question- They are gonna build me a map for my bike .... probably 3-4 hours time on the dyno. The first place (couldn't do it until July 24th) said all day and 250.00. the second place said a week from friday, all day, 225.00. and the place i'm going on thursday said 3-4 hours, 300.00 ? what have you guys been paying?

i can't wait to get my bike dialed in with the new cams installed. :motor:

Depending on the place Terry, anywhere from $225.00 (local) to $350.00 at bike rally.

All day for a TC88 with cams, breather and pipes? Tell them to get off the crack pipe. If they are a credible shop they will already have a map that is close and a good dyno operator should then be able to dial in the PCIII for a relatively simple mill like yours in less than an hour.

Price wise $200 to $300 for a dyno tuned PCIII map is normal.

Paid 200 bucks at a PCIII authorized tuner in Dallas. The software they use is like magic and like Speedman says, it shouldn't take but about an hour.

They did a base run on my bike at first. Then they stuck a probe in one of the exhaust pipes and let the software take over. Then repeated for the other cylinder. This makes a custom map for each cylinder. Then they did a new dyno run to check the results.

Whats great about the PCIII software is the PC makes all the adjustments on its own. You don't have to worry about human error.

True. However, the way the Dyno Jet tuning software works is that you set the desired air fuel ratio and it cycles through throttle position and rpm and builds a map based to suit. This does not take into consideration that different mills make more, or less power at different air fuel ratios. A skilled dyno operator will end up creating an optimum map for the specific engine being tuned. The software is more of a generic solution that works great for simple applications, but I wouldn't use it for a high performance setup.
