Well, I have the Baker DD6 in my Ultra, and I've been having issues with the primary and the chain coming out of adjustment about every 1,000 miles. Killing me.
So, I bought a Hayden M6 to see if I could get it to work. I am hapy to say, I did get it to work. However, I'll have to say one of the worst feelings in the world, aside from a flat tire, is when you're torquing your bolts down and just before you get to the torque setting "slip" the wrench goes soft. Stripped it out. I must have hit the bolts, or set them down in order wrong. But I substituted the #9 (torque sequence) bolt for the #5. i.e. put a short one where a long one should go. Well, off for a big ride this weekend. I just hope she holds her primary fluid. Looks like a chrome inner primary? is on tap to be installed next? God - what a horrible feeling... Just doubly make certain if you ever remove your primary cover, to keep the long and short bolts in the right place. |

That bites Mungo. I hope it holds for this weekends ride for ya. You're right about the stripping of a bolt being one of life's worst feelings. It's usually followed by an "Oh Shit" when I do it. Bet the new chrome inner primary will look sharp!

Lee, they make something called a "Heli-Coil". they work great and are easy to use. I have used them for years on outboard motors. Look around up there and find the size you need. Just make sure to use the size drill and tap they tell you to for the size you are using.

Dang Lee sorry to hear that. Bright side is you get new chrome, right! I hope she holds her stuff for you and your little lady's adventure.

Thanks guys - absolutely stupid mistake on my part. Hopefully a good lesson learned.
Coolmaker's right on the money. NAPA Heli-Coil in a 1/4-20 size fits the bill. Now just finding a NAPA. |

the heli coil will work the best , but if you just put a short screw in a long hole , why not just put the long bolt in , if the short screw striped out the treats it only graped the first few the deeper ones should be fine
