Default Lonestar Rally - Staying in Galveston!

Texas - GALVESTON - The Lone Star Rally will not be held in Galveston at the end of October as originally planned.

Promoter Ron Limbock said Thursday city officials told him the island had too much damage to host an event so soon after Hurricane Ike.

They told him the island likely would not be ready to host the event in 2009 either, Limbock said.

Although the rally is moving to Houston, it will not turn its back on the island, he said.

"Galveston made us famous," he said. "We won't ever turn our back on Galveston."

Rally officials are working out details and a venue for this year's event. They will post information on the group's Web site as soon as they have it, Limbock said.

With help of Texas musicians, Limbock said he planned to turn the entertainment part of this year's event into a benefit for the Texas coast.

I wondered about that. Was still receiving their newsletter as late as last week saying "its still here dammit" LOL

Still way too messed up down there from what Janice said.

I'm hoping they change the date too! I've missed the last few because of work. The last one I made was 05 because they moved it back 3 weeks due to Hurricane Rita. Maybe this will be my lucky year

We aint renewing our NASCAR season tix for next year. We've both been dying to go to Talladega & Bristol for a while now for a race so we're gonna save the $$$ and go to some other races - plan a big ride to wherever & catch a race while we're there

And that will free up 3 extra weekends to hit a couple of more rallies we've really been wanting to make - like Lone Star.

Well thats a bummer for Galveston as they sure could use the economic impact the bikers would have made on the island .. I can see why though and it does make a bit of sense .. When we leave for Houston ? I wouldnt mind a weekend getaway ...

Update: Still in Galveston - not Houston - from Suds'n Buttrfly

2> Lone Star Rally - Galveston - Oct 30-Nov 2

Date: 9/23/2008
From: BikerMGG@aol.com

Dear Friends!
I'd bet you have been waiting to hear from us! First, let me tell everyone effected that our hearts and prayers are with you and the Lone Star Rally will not sit idle. We are prepared to help! We too lost our offices and are working under combat like conditions. We apologize for being difficult to get ahold of.

The good news is that the City has asked us to remain in Galveston and to keep the dates the same. So, The Lone Star Rally will happen in Galveston Oct 30th thru Nov 2! Everything will remain the same only better. We are now officially the Rally to Rebuild! We encourage everyone to come and help rebuild the Galveston economy. Yes, hotels are going to be a little hard to find. Keep watching our website as we will add lodging daily.

LSR will create special logos that can be added to your shirts for a donation to the fund, provide donation centers, a telethon and more, all to help our effected community. Our vendors will serve as trick or treat stations for the kids with candy, etc.

For more details join us at San Jacinto Harley Davidson this week for our second LSR Preview Party. Everyone knows that San Jacinto throws great parties and we could all use one! Plase join us ther this Saturday beginning at 12noon for all of the festivities, parkiing pass sales, Beach boys tickets and much more!

Let's show the world how much bikers care and show up in droves to Galveston this year. Jean Lafitte founded Galveston and he will return with his two wheeled pirates to rebuild!

Please watch our website for lodging opportunities. Please be patient with the hotels as they are all trying hard to get back online. Please do not call our offices unless it is absolutely necessary. We are swamped getting re-ready and are operating with limited capacity.

Thanks for understanding! You can help further by emailing this to all of your friends to help us get the word out that all is well and happening!

See you at the Rally!
Ron
