Need help re a vehicle in Houston for a Cdn attending UofH

My BF's son is heading back to Houston after being back home here in Ontario Canada for the summer. He arrives back Aug 20/08 for his second yr at UofH on a golf scholarship with the Cougars.

We initially spent a great deal of time looking up dealerships in the area and having him run around trying to find a car back in Feb - April when I finally said...why??? He is coming back via plane to Ontario in May. So yes, we bought a little chev cavalier for all the kids to share (don't even ask how that works!!! hahaha) Anyway, the thought is since he needs to get from the University to the golf course to practice, every day (part of the rules and regs of the scholarship) we need to get him something there.

For whatever reason, it really did not dawn on me to ask for help from those of you there. So just asking for advice, best places to deal with etc. He only has 2.5 yrs left there and all he needs is something cheap with no funk appeal. 2 to 3K. At the end of his tenure there the car will be left behind...sold or seriously just left behind!

If any one of you are able to provide some assistance, I would certainly appreciate the direction seeing you all live there and we do not.

I'm not in that area, but for the $$ y'all are looking to spend, that means pretty used, so have y'all tried eBay, or Craigslist? they have area searches which would enable you to find the car in the area you need it. I can tell you, almost 100% certain you won't find anything in the price range at any Dealer, maybe a tote the note............Speaking from experience :wink:
