Default Trees

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

Well .. they got that last damn phrase down in spades around here last night I woke up this morning around 3am, noticed our power was out {always a pisser} then stopped to listen to the storm. I padded on into the kitchen to take a look across the backyard. Pea sized hail pelting the windows & one helluva storm going on. Then had that "hair standing up on the back of ya neck" feeling -- with every flash of lightning I focused on the shit that was flying through the air. Our arbor was already blown down and its literally about 550lbs when my lady banks rose is blooming

I went to wake up Gzr & let him know that we could be in for a real ride. We have a safe spot in the house stocked with stuff to ride out any tornados & stuff like that. Then the tornado sirens started blaring about 3:45am. We got a little more hurried in our movements right about then. lol He got our scanner up & running & we proceeded to head for the "hidey-hole" and listen to the carnage being cut across the metroplex from the LEO & emergency response perspective. Pretty wicked. We're actually lucky we dont really have any trees other than big bushes around our house.

The following are just around our immediate neighborhood. The meteorologists have yet to make their official determination of it being an actual tornado, but if you have ever seen the definitive path they cut when coming through .. I have no doubt we were grazed by one from the storms based on the damage pattern in our area. Turned into a gorgeous 80 degree day, no electricity & all. Rode around, snapped some pix and then a little 3hr trip to the ER for meh. Yes, FB05 said it earlier - "your having a rough year." LOL. While hauling our arbor back up from the ground with a come-a-long, I tried to steady it across the top at a very inopportune time .. caught the outside of my right hand in the teeth. Thankfully I had on work gloves. Yes, it was stuck, yes I freaked. Neither Gzr nor I have a clue how I got the damn thing out of the teeth -- all happened too fast. Yanked it out somehow & yes it bled like a sumbitch for a few minutes from punctures. No broken bones and most importanty - none of the damn drugs I was hoping I could get my hands on in the ER. LOL. It'll be fine. But I wont be handling one of those damn things for the rest of my natural lifetime. :ass:

TR,

Glad you guys made it through the storm ok. Sorry you didn't fare as well in the cleanup. As much as everyone appreciates your pictures you can't let anything happen to your camera trigger finger.

Damn I was at work and believe me it was not pretty for us in Texas . Power and phone service outages all night long from the time I sat down at midnight until 8am .. On the way in to work at 11pm I got caught in a hail storm that I was sure was going to crack my windows on the truck right at the Ballpark area .. I was going 10 Mph and hail the size of golfballs were pelting the truck . Miraculously the truck sustained NO damage ...

sorry to hear about the ER trip ...

:sad:
