Default New Law Allows Unlicensed Weapons In The Car

Getting a little freedom back I am still awaiting answers as to what 'concealed' on a bike means. They are awfully vague right now...

FORT WORTH - A license is no longer required to carry a gun inside a vehicle, as long as that gun is hidden.

This is part of House Bill 1815, which not only allows firearms, but other weapons as well. Swords, clubs, tomahawks and blades over five inches long were once considered illegal. Now, all can be carried inside a vehicle so long as they remain concealed.

Proponents said this law maintained Second Amendment rights, however, police officers worry about what they might face in the future.

"It's unfortunate that we are going to have to, more than likely, deal with those situation," said Det. Sandra Castillo. "But that's our job, and we just have to be ready for it, if it does happen. We don't have a choice."

There are some restrictions to the law: you cannot be involved in a gang, you cannot be a convicted felon and you cannot be in the process of committing a crime.

Thanks for the update TexasBlonde! I'm curious to see what "concealed" on a bike means also. If I'm on a bike and it's concealed on me, where does that fall?

By unlicensed weapon I assume that means I don't have to have a concealed HG license to carry it in my car?

I have my concealed carry license. Anytime I ride in the US the gun goes with me. Should some dumb fool try to cause me grief well I have been practicing left handed shooting. Getting better.

I wonder what is considered an "unlicensed" weapon? We do not have that designation here in NC, unless you're carrying a fully automatic weapon without the appropriate license, or, I suppose an illegal weapon, such as a shotgun with less than a 16" barrel.

Great post TR. Always glad to hear when freedoms are reinstated. (Ones that should have never been taken in the first place)

You mean it was against the law until now? Damn, it's getting harder and harder to not be a criminal these days.

It's not like its hard to get a CCW anyhow.
As long as you pass the background check, the rest is a Piece of cake.
