Dallas, TX

07-Oct-2007 (Sunday)

Stevie Ray Vaughan Remembrance Ride - 13th Annual Ride & Concert

While remembering the life of Stevie Ray Vaughan, enjoy a fun-filled combination motorcycle parade and blues concert, benefiting the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Scholarship Fund! The parade starts at Hooters in Dallas' West End, proceeds to The Palladium Ballroom for the all-day memorial concert. The Palladium Ballroom is a 3,500 capacity venue which allows everywhere to be a great view of the stage. All tickets are General Admission. Free parking at The Palladium Ballroom. 100% of all event proceeds benefit the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Scholarship Fund. All event organizers are volunteers. S.R.V. Remembrance Ride, Inc. is 501 (c) (3) Non-profit S.R.V. Memorial Scholarship Fund Established in 1993 at the Communities Foundation of Texas, the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Scholarship Fund was formed to assist students who demonstrate a strong interest and ability in music to pursue a college education. Greiner Middle School, a Dallas Independent School District magnet school for music, was selected as the target school for the awards. An inner-city school, Greiner is located in the heart of Oak Cliff, where Stevie spent his childhood. Students are awarded the scholarships at the end of their 8th grade year, and upon graduating from High School students may use the scholarships to attend the college or university of their choice. The teachers recommend candidates for the scholarship, and each candidate must have a good attendance record and good grades. Martha Vaughan, Stevie's mother, is an active participant in the Scholarship Fund. Each year she attends the scholarship auditions at Greiner Middle School and helps to select the award recipients. Each year Mrs. Vaughan has matched the donation from the Ride to the Scholarship Fund. To date, 151 S.R.V. Scholarships have been awarded to music students at Greiner Middle School. Thank You for your support!

That's cool as shit. What a great way to remember Stevie.

I was working as a bouncer at the Doctor's Hotel and I remember when the DJ announced the crash over the PA in between band sets like it was yesterday.

If Red says it's a blast, it's a blast. We look forward to seeing everyone here, may have to make it a "Little" Event

That is awesome, SRV was and always will be my favorite performer, I remember watching Stevie on the TV show Austin City Limits.

I love SRV! I remember Trad talking about this last year. I need to note the date so that I can potentially plan to go ride in it next year. That would be awesome.
