Default Joshua Tree Ride - Mar 24, 2007

I'm trying to organize a ride in Joshua Tree this Saturday, March 24. This is supposedly the best time to ride through there, since this is the time when all the native flora springs back to life. Temps are supposed to be in the low 70s.

I've got about 6-10 people likely to be on this ride. This will be a good opportunity to meet some riders.

The route will most likely go up Hwy 74 through Hemet and down into Palm Desert. Then take Box Canyon Rd to Joshua Tree NP. Then we'll head into Yucca Valley and stop over at Pappy & Harriets in Pioneertown.

Staging is at the Yellow Basket in Menifee, at 9:00am for breakfast, and kickstand up by 10:00am.

Here's a maplink for Yellow Basket...

It'll cost $5.00 per person to get into Joshua Tree NP.

My cell phone is (949) 233-5559 if you wanna call me.

We had 10 bikes on the ride. Myself, Stumpy, Hyrise, Ray, BroBrian, Lori, MightyWarlock, Bubba, 2Mean2Like, and one other guy (sorry I don't remember the name)

We went up Hwy 74 from Hemet all the way down to Palm Desert on the other side. We stopped at the overlook on Hwy 74, as you descend into Palm Desert. There was a Ford Cobra club there.

We took side streets through Palm Desert, Cathedral City, and Indio out to Box Canyon Road. Took that into Joshua Tree National Park. Rode out to Keys View to enjoy the view over the Coachella Valley.

Rode into Pioneertown from there and ate an early dinner, and browsed around the buildings. Left there around 5:30pm.

The whole trip went about 260 miles from staging point back to staging point. MightyWarlock, Bubba, 2Mean2Like and the other guy probably did 460-500 miles as they rode back to Los Angeles.

Weather was great. Pretty much 70s all the way.
