Default BFE Ride (So Cal), Saturday May 12, 2007

The BFE Ride is this Saturday, May 12. It's a poker run and rally that raises money to provide educational materials and services to the children of soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The poker run starts in Fallbrook, at St. Peter's School. They serve you pancakes and sausages. A Catholic priest comes out and blesses everybody's bikes. Then the ride starts, and it just goes around north San Diego County and South-west Riverside County.

The ride finishes at a rally at Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center. They provide a BBQ lunch for everyone. Live band. Charity auctions. Ride-in bike show. Vendors.

Registration is $40.00 at a door.

We're going to stage up in Temecula, 7:30am at the Shell Station on the corner of I-15 and Hwy 79 South. Kickstands up by 7:45am. Anyone wants to ride with us, you're welcome.

There was an estimate of 800 bikes registered for the ride. There were others registered just for the rally. And I know there several more that didn't registered at all, that rode along with others. Maybe 1,000 bikes in all participating.

The poker run started at St Peter's School in Fallbrook, went to Estrella's Family Restaurant in Bonsall, to Harvest Valley Farms in Valley Center, to Lake Henshaw Resort, to Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center. About 80-90 miles.

Weather down there was perfect, about mid-70s.

At St Peter's School, they had one of those Scottish piper bands. They had a priest do a bike blessing. Bill Goldberg, the pro-wrestler was there doing photos for people. He was at the rally also.
