Veterans ministry to benefit from collections

Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 is collecting supplies for a ministry in Asheville that provides services to homeless veterans.

Ross Moore, a veteran and member of Rolling Thunder Chapter 2, said the supplies are being collected for the Homeless Veterans Restoration Quarters, which is part of the Asheville-Buncombe Christian Ministries.

The Veteran's Restoration Quarters and Transitional Housing is a 150-room facility. The facility was purchased in November 2007 and opened in December.

Moore said supplies are being collected at Tilley Harley-Davidson on Morland Drive in Statesville through noon on Sept. 12. At 1 p.m. that day, Rolling Thunder will load up the supplies and take them to Asheville.
