Collections during rally were lower, but not as much as some had feared
Everyone in Myrtle Beach knew 2009 was going to be bad, but no one was sure just how bad.
T-Bonz General Manager David Thurber suspected at the start of the year that he'd hire fewer servers for summer and would have to make adjustments in May to make up for losing business after the city took steps to curb the motorcycle rallies that occupied most of that month.
"We used to section off the parking lot for motorcycles," Thurber said. "We didn't have to do that this year."
