The Campaign for Chattanooga in the American civil war is memorialized in the largest military park in North America in Chickamauga Georgia and Look Out Mountain in Tennessee.
In 1863, Union and Confederate forces fought for control of Chattanooga, the gateway to the deep south. The Confederate’s were victorious at nearby Chickamauga in September, but renewed fighting in Chattanooga in November gave Union troops final control. Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, the nation’s first, was created in 1890 to preserve and commemorate these battlefields. The roads are fantastic, the history is humbling and the hospitality is everything you would expect in the deep south. I highly recommend visiting the battlefield and Point Park if you're fortunate enough to be in the area. More information here. SM |

Really good pix. We really loved that place when we rode through there back in 2005. Tremendous amount amount of history and pride there. And another awesome job by Elly on the shows  |

My g-g-grandfather was from Decatur, Tennessee and fought for the 5th Tennessee Cavalry.
I have always wanted to see Chickamauga. Thanks for the respectful post. |
