The Chatroom is out of whack

It is the only piece of code on Hawg Zone that is closed source and it has lost it marbles due to the DST change this year. It will automatically log people out whether they are active, or not after 1 to 15 minutes of being in the chat.

One of my guys is investigating workarounds, which may, or may not solve the problem. If it doesn't we might have to wait for an update from the original author.

Closed source proprietary software sucks. Period.

You can chat, but as soon as you disappear from the chatroom block on the left menu then you are out of the chat for all intents and purposes.

The only workaround right now is to log out and back in for the time being.

If the guy I have on it can't fix the problem today (which is widely reported in the vendors forums) we'll try purging the SQL tables and rebuilding it from scratch. That might get us up and running properly again, but I doubt it will solve the problem in the long term. It would be better to find a workaround that can be applied to future versions as well if the primary developer fails to address the problem. This is precisely why closed source software sucks. If we had the entire source code the problem would be fixed by now and shared with other users.

I purged the database for the chat server, did a fresh install and just finished a 45 minute session with no timeouts.

It looks like we're back in business. Fingers crossed.

If you have any problems dump your browser cache and try again.
