Aw fuck. This is the crap I hate. And who says it's "Freedom of Speech"? To me Sheehan is nothing more than a traitor. Her son, God rest his soul, would be very embarrassed over her actions.

I have to believe the same thing Mungo. Her son believed in what he did for our country.
I'm just sick that we havent dropped her off in Iraq & bid her adieu. |

The freedom of speech is one of the most delicate balancing acts among our basic First Amendment rights. I would never want this woman censored for her beliefs, but I will never agree with her position. This is the very essence of what our soldiers fight for - basic freedoms. Our forefathers faced persecution for speaking out against the King and the British government (and others) and decided that such persecution should not be tolerated - every citizen should have the basic freedom to speak out against the government without fear of repercussion. But when does freedom of speech cross the line? Normally when simple speech turns to inciting action from others. Criticism of the government through speech is one thing, using that speech as a sword to incite others to revolution or other actions against the government crosses the line from free speech to potential traitor activity.
But if you ask our troops whether Sheehan should be censored for her speech, most would say no - they are fighting to preserve that freedom of speech and extend it to others. In words often attributed to Voltaire, but not specifically his words, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." That is the essence of free speech. Another take is from Toby Keith's lastest, Love Me if You Can: "I stand by my right to speak freely. But I worry 'bout what kids learn from TV." |

YOu know there was a time, when hats and tshirts around the world, espcially in the US read...
"UNITED WE STAND" This is the biggest fear of the Jihadist's. A United America, would be all it took to rid the world of these people who are hell bent on killing us infidel's. Today you do not see those T Shirts anymore, but the Jihadist's are printing up new ones every day... "Divide and Conquer" As long as politicians want office and power, they will continue to divide the people, and play into the hands of the fuck ups, NEVER has the West been more divided then today. |

Complacency will always be the enemy of Liberty! I vehemently oppose Shehan's beliefs and have the right to voice that opinion thanks to the same soldiers who secured her right to say it in the first place!
