It's not even debatable...at the beginning of last year they had the MVP and Superbowl in his hands?? why?? who the fuck knows...like Dorsette said...he hadn't won shit yet in the NFL.....
Bens got two superbowls, more 4th quarter comebacks in the last three years then any other QB...and his name barely gets mentioned in the upper class of QB's....course Bradshaw went through the same shit, while he was quietly winnning 4 superbowls....

Honestly? I think it's because people watch football for more reasons these days than they used to. I can only speak to my own experiences which started in 1980 watching football and actually understanding the game, but the 80's and 90's were about the game of football - you had to love it, and people followed their team and watched other games if they could find them on TV or at a sports bar.

Now for many it's an entertainment - people watch to see how their fantasy back is doing, to see the cute guy dating the supermodel, or because the player is on their favorite commercial.

Tony fits all those things pretty well doesn't he? During the season he puts up good numbers in fantasy leagues, dates musicians with big tits, and appears in commercials all over the Texas airwaves.

but these people forget that the end of the season, in fact the whole point of the season, is to get to the playoffs and win a superbowl. In the end all the rest is just entertainment - not sports - and people get confused.

Last year Romo was supposed to win the superbowl because he was the Dallas QB and everybody knew Dallas is a winning team. Americas team. Entertainment. After all, who else but the eventual superbowl winner would have all this attention outside of the game? Didn't he have TO? Everyone knows who that is, right? Didn't he date none other than Jessica simpson? She wouldn't be with a loser!

Kind of a cart before the horse thing - he's acting like he already won a superbowl, so therefore he must be about to win one?

What are stats? Those are for those old fashioned football fans - you know, the ones who liked Dallas when they sucked instead of loving the last famous entertainer QB - Tom Brady and those great Patriots. Remember how many fantasy games he won for you? Gisell anyone? But please remember he actually won superbowls too.

Blah blah blah

Maybe it's just that I'm a Skins fan...lol

Thought I already had a Romo thread going you thread jacker Dorsett is a bit jealous of all the quick famedom, and most of all $$$$ Romo is making IMO. But as a Cowboy Legend, Hiesman Trophy Winner, College Hall of Fame member, and NFL Hall of Fame member, his opinion matters Just not to me

I think this is the bottom line with Romo...Jones did not build that new stadium, so the team can take early vacations every year.
They haven't won a play off game in 10 or so years...and lately I think we know why?

man last year when they were given a second chance to get in the playoffs, and were subsequently embarrased...to me that falls on the coach and the QB, especicially when Romo played as shitty as he did. Go back two years and the botched field goal....you think Jones has forgotten about that??...Hell NO!!

You heard this here first....if they do not make the playoffs this year, and win at least one game in the playoffs....right or wrong...they will be making a QB change. I do not however think that this would be the end of a career for Romo....he would land on some other team, and hell it may be the best thing for him.

Romo has his future with Dallas in his own hands....let the games begin.

Rats have already started jumping the ship here in Austin - the same columnists that had appointed as the worlds greatest are all writing articles of the "I never thought he was that good" type and saying he's just not a great one and we never really thought he was - many are blaming Jerry for putting an "Average" QB in this situation by paying him so much and putting such high expectations on him.
