Default Beast of the East???

I'll put this out there because I am very surprised by the first two weeks

Is the NFC East still the division to beat in the NFC? The Saints are a great team and I think the Saints are who the NFC East must beat to stay relevant.

I admit I was wrong about the Giants - to a certain extent. Clearly, they can still score which I did not believe would be the case in the preseason. However, they have played two division rivals which on the surface makes them the team to beat this year...EXCEPT... The Skins especially, the Cowboys and the Eagles do NOT look like dominant teams so far.

Are we about to enter a new phase in the NFC? Are the East teams headed to irrelevance? Take a good look at them:

Skins - QB hasn't stood up and done anything yet. Coach calling plays that we armchair coaches can call from miles away. 5 trips to the redzone and 9 points against a BAD team. Clearly the worst team in the division right now. And their O line just got WORSE. Even if they have a 5-1 record by week 6 that only means they beat some of the worst teams in the NFL - next week thay look to let the Lions snap their winless streak of 18 games. Week 7 is against the Eagles. Saints are Dec 6.

Eagles - Aging QB who never seems to get it done in the post season, Defense is a dissapointment over first two weeks, seem to be nearing an extensive rebuilding period. Franchise QB out for a few weeks and nearing retirement. Saints crushed them last week.

Cowboys - Defense? What's going on here? Offense has Romo - love him or hate him, he's awful in December and has never won a playoff game. Both sides of this team seem to fold at the worst times. The Saints are in December on the road as is their rematch with NY and a Skins game in Washington - Call it a must win month for Romo and his coach - Jerry ain't known for his patience

So having beat Skins and Dallas are we sure the Giants are really that good? The Skins stayed with them all the way to the end despite doing almost everything wrong in that game, and Dallas outright manhandled them in evey way but the important way - score. Sure the giants have a run game and it looks like the rookie recievers are learning on the job fast, but both the Skins and Dallas D's did a good job against them. I wouldn't think the Giants are an elite team unless they beat the Saints in week 6.

I'm just bringing this up for discussion - What d'yall think?

Good points. It's early. I think this may be an interesting season. The Saints ain't going anywhere. Never have and never will.

Minnesota and the Jets both look pretty tough. The Steelers ain't out. Neither are the Cowboys.

How about San Fran?? Interesting what a no bull shit coach can bring to a team.

Saints are looking really good, who cares if they have a defense if they keep scoring 40+ per game! It's a long season, but I agree with Trad for once, the NFC East isn't anywhere near Elite at the moment. Vikes, and Cards could still be good in the end, and Yes, any Team with Singletary as their Boss has a great chance at kicking some ass!
