Default Navy v. UNT Game

Quote:
DENTON, Texas (AP) -Navy and North Texas set a major-college record by combining for 136 points in the Midshipmen's 74-62 win on Saturday.
Ninety-four friggin points scored in the 1st half!! Was pretty wild to see a record get set -- although, as Dad & Gzr pointed out, neither team will take long in reviewing their films today to see how badly both teams are in need of a defense. LOL

Gzr, my Dad & I rolled into UNTs campus around 1pm. Only ran over 1 bra in the road so it must have been a relatively quiet Friday nite on campus! LMAO. We made our way to the Navy tailgate party to look around & retrieve our tix. Ended up with great seats on the Navy side for the game.

Gzr was able to see & say howdy to his old peewee player - Adam Ballard #22 - before they hit the field for practice. Adam scored one TD yesterday in the 1st half. For folks who know North Texas HS football - it was very obvious from the way UNT played offensively that their new head coach, Todd Dodge, from Southlake Carroll fame, intends to wins some football games going forward

Here are a few shots of Adam. I'll get more posted up on my photo site in a few days.

Yes Adam was and still is a football player. Adam can possibly go pro. He was always quiet other than yes sir, no sir, run through a brick wall sir. Kind of kid that didn't mind "teaching" the slackers or quitters on your team. His lead blocking was as good as his running.

I had him and a kid that was the Offensive player of the Year in the Southland?? Conf at Tarleton State last year Michael Sampson, in the same backfield. Michael would be the starting tailaback at Georgia Tech and was until he didn't make the required grades.

Anyway quick story....

We got beat twice that year even with those two (they were 11 in 11/12) by one of the best teams I ever saw. Adam played for me the next year and won my first city championship and we went undefeated. Michael went on to school ball.

The team that beat us twice , the next weekend after beating us for the City Championship in 1995 played a really good team from East Texas and beat them 20 - 7. That really good team from East Texas had a running back that was gaining notoriaty already but had no where to go that night. That running back was Adrain Peterson from Palestine, TX.

And now you know the rest of the story!!
