Default These are my boys

AS some of you know - I'm an assistant coach this year for our schools football team. This article appeared on th ewebsite sixmanfootball.com about the defense:

Quote:
Two for tackles
Austin NYOS is quietly rewriting its legacy in six-man football. Long known as the high school team that bested a group of college-aged players, NYOS is beginning to be known as Team Tackle.
The Jaguars had three players register at least 14 tackles last week, including Jared Steedley, Gabe Alldredge and Matt Godwin.
Steedley racked up a nation’s best 20 tackles last wee. Alldredge finished with 18, while Godwin chalked up 14.
We've had two games this year.

We lost to the number one team in Texas by 22 points - the "best" losing score to this team in three years - they are monsters! But if our offense had played well, we could have beat them for sure.

Last week we destroyed a top ranked team that was picked to beat us by 45 points. We won 20 to 14. The last time this team had been held to less than 30 points was a long time ago...

We're looking good.

Good deal trad. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

Our season opener is tomorrow. After a month of training camp and a couple exhibition games our guys are chomping at the bit. I know exactly how proud you feel after your team puts in a good showing.

Thanks guys.

We put a real crazy season together - we're an independant league, so we get to play both public schools and private, and our ranking was so abysmal last year that we scheduled top 20 teams in both leagues our first four games.

This week is Hill Country Christian - ranked number 12 in the private school league. We're 19 point underdogs, but then last week we were 45 point underdogs - not too worried about the spread. lol

We are the best defense in Texas right now IMHO, and if the offense fires on all six cylinders we're gonna be really hard to beat

If there was going to be a movie it would have happened after we beat a team that cheated by putting in a group of college football players in to try to beat us. That was one crazy day!

Here are the facts as I've learned them:

1. we had agame scheduled, but there was no communication with the coach
2. fearing an open week, we scheduled another game for that day
3. the week of the game, we get a call from the coach about the game in which he asks if we're going to play them, and if so, he is "going to bring up" some players - we assumed this to mean that he was bringing up JV and asking us not to kill them.
4. we decide to play BOTH scheduled games against two different teams that night because we can play a lot of our JV in the first, original game and rest our Varsity guys for the second game.
5. We show up to find "players" with full beards and tattoos!
6. We play them and we BEAT them.
7. We go to the second game and win it as well.
8. A week later an irate parent from the "college" team complains that there was no game that night despite reports that we played and won because, "Her son had turned in his uniform for maintenance and the coach had scheduled that week as a bye week".
9. investigations uncover that the coach brought his college son and his teammates from a local college in to play us It makes front page news on two papers, sports illustratred, local news, etc etc

THAT's a movie

I wouldn't believe it if I didn't read the news article regarding the game.

Trad is even more intense during these games then when his Skins play. I was of course expecting a post about the Skins when I read the title, but the Jags really are Trad's boys, and those boys can run!

Last game I watched one of his players run for quite a few yards while dragging a player from the other team. I also got to watch Trad's "Big Guy" stay standing while "wearing" 4 members from the other team. Moments of pure beauty---so fun to watch.
