Default cam opinion

Hey:

I have a stock 05 RK injected with a stage 1 and SE slip ons.
Was thinking of an S+S 510g (with the gears and adjustable push rods).

What say you? Any guesstimates on shop time for this conversion?

Also thinking of a Supertrapp 2 into 1.

Didn't want to go more cubic cm as I think it is too expensive.

Any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

The S&S 510G'S are a very good cam. We put them in my sons (Squirrel) bike and it made a huge difference in power. Ram also put a set in his bagger and is very happy with the choice.

Can't speak about the 2 into 1 pipes but have heard they will give you more HP and Torque... Personally, I don't like the looks of them, and will never run one.

One of my friends is a mechanic down at my local shop. We were chattin' and he concurred that the 510G's were the all around best Cam for the 88. He does a lot of Dyno tuning and he gets to see how well certain products work or don't work.

And actually, 2 into 1 will give you the best performance, but it looks a bit off balance with the bags, and I really have to wonder what it does to your lean angle since the muffler has to be that much bigger.

My Dyno tune friend also said, if you don't go two into one, you can't beat the performance from Rinehart.

I just put a set of Rineharts on, they sound and look great (much better than the old style). I just hope this time the tips dont turn purple like on my last Ultra.

Cheers,

IMHO, you can't beat the 510G's. Best single upgrade I have done to my scoot yet. The low end punch is unbelieveable.

Mine's even worse, I have a purple one and a black one. I think I'm going to shell out the bucks for the chrome tips.

Thanks for the input. I am pretty much sold on the 510g. My local HD wrench is not to keen on installing them. Problem is that the next guy I know to do the install is four hours away, and then seven hours after that.

I don't think I will be scrapping these. I don't like the 2:1 look either but I think it will grow on me. Plus I am sitting on the bike, not looking at it from the side or rear.

So anyone that put in this cam, do you remember how long it took so I can at least negotiate some shop time hear?

cheers
