A new motorcycle being billed as the world's first all-electric custom chopper lacks the roar of a gas motor. NY1's Technology reporter Adam Balkin filed the following report.
New York - Anyone who's a fan of the TLC show "American Chopper" is familiar with Paul Teutul Sr. sitting at the helm of a motorcycle. But the Siemens bike, the latest custom-built Orange County Chopper that is being billed as the world's first custom "green" electric chopper, is no ordinary motorbike. For one thing, the electric motorcycle has replaced the hallmark growl of a gas motor with silence. "We really went full-bore with this," says Teutul. "Recycled steel, water-based paint, it doesn't get any greener. There's no exhaust, there's no fumes in the air." The bike gets about 60 miles on a single charge and can pull that charge off of any standard outlet within several hours. Click here to read the rest of the story. Cheers, Speed |
