Interesting thought Gzr.
Perhaps we're just delaying the inevitable end of the world? I don't have a controlled comparison here. Hard to say what would have happened after 9-11 had we not done anything except search for Bin Laden. But, I think it is safe to say that Al Qeada is a beast that will grow another leader if we take on out. It's resilient. I have to believe that by fighting a war on another soil we have prevented, or at least delayed future attacks on our native soil. I'm not the grim reaper here, nor am I a pessimist or a chicken little, but I know when we have a resilient enemy that resorts to all levels to attack. We have a never ending enemy who wants to destroy us and they will not quit until they do. What does this mean? Either the US is going to "win" by destroying this hate of people who are non-Islamic, or the Islamic extremist are going to pull the wrong trigger one day and make this entire planet uninhabitable. I'm not afraid. But I do believe that I will probably unfortunately live to see the end of our great nation. The sad thing is, a vast majority of our countrymen have learned to live off our infrastructure. They don't realize that they only have the rights of the constitution if our country is intact. These same people filling up our judicial system with frivolous claims of perceived injustices will perish when our infrastructure fails. There aren't many people in existence today with the resolve and determination it took people to create this country over 200 year ago. I hate to see what America will be like in 20 years. I love her, but I think she's dying. |

Mungo,
I appreciate your well thought out reply that didn't turn into the ridculous "You don't support out troops Bull Shit" that seems to be so popular and a learned response from TV." You said above... I have to believe that by fighting a war on another soil we have prevented, or at least delayed future attacks on our native soil. I guess I can't see any corelation. I think by fighting that war (Iraq mainly) it has kept our borders open and allowed many illegals any of which could bring in Weapons of Mass Destruction. I think it makes us much more unsafe. All open for debate. I just think Washington and some media outlets tell us how to think (most blindly follow) rather than us backing up looking at the FACTS and coming to our own common sense conclusions. I do support the troops. That is why I want them back home making them safer saving over $10B a month which MAY save our country, while at the same time really providing protection from any and all that want to walk across the border today. I don't think most see the connection between the economy callapse and the war, but there is one. Hell it has become the only economy we have left. If we do and can win and there is a group hug in Iraq, hell we will lose because that is where the 3 jobs left in the US will go to cheap labor. I hope we are wrong, but I too think you and I may see the end of this great run called the USA. It is a dismal outlook at best. I blame Bush but more so it is all of Washington. None (few) of them served in the Armed Forces, ever looked for a job, ever bought groceries, ever bought healthcare, they are all self focused and totally out of touch. Anyone buying the whole it is the Republicans fault or the Democrats fault is buying right into their bull shit. They are all alike unfortunately. They want us to buy the bullshit that it is always someone fault. Jesse and Al come to mind? |
