I know PLENTY< PLENTY of folks, regular joe's I might ad, who are personally close friends of mine, and who I have a ton of respect for, who have fucked up and drove drunk, and have also been caught. IN fact in my inner circle of friends I am the only one who has never been caught. They fought the charges as well. The best man at my wedding, drove his car into a field, flipped over a wack of times....and got off on the charges.
I had my say with him, he knew he was in the wrong, and made a bad choice, but he was a helluva a good person...and we stood beside him through his trial(my father<RIP> was prepared to testify on his behalf, and don't ever challenge this man's integrity, you'll LOSE!!!)....when he got off we were elated....slapped him upuside of the head, and told him if he did it ever again, the law would be the least of his worries...
GOOD PEOPLE, make BAD choices....don't throw stones at Billy for trying to get his life back together...I'm just not so sure anyone in here wouldn't do the Exact same thing....I know if I had a lawyer tellin me, we could probably get you off on these charges, or you could just plead guilty and not see your daughter for a few years....FUCK THAT...just being honest, if that makes me less of a man in your eyes, then so fuckin be it...at least I ain't no hypocrit

Well said, Fubar. His attorney is doing exactly what he is paid to do - vigorously represent his client and work toward the best interests of his client.
As for the motions to suppress, there are a number of grounds on which evidence could be suppressed - for example, his blood was taken without his consent - illegal search. How long after the accident was the blood taken - goes to the reliability of the result. How was it tested, look at all the records for all of the testing equipment. And many others.
I have worked with many criminal defense attorneys and many of them are much maligned because people have the impression that the defense lawyer is simply out to get their clients off even if they know their client is guilty. Many times, that is not the case - the primary job of the defense attorney is to work as a check on the police - if we are going to charge someone with a crime and potentially take away their liberty, then I think we all want to make sure the police did things according to the law and within the limits of their power. That is the primary job of the defense attorney - watchdog the government and make sure the cops did it by the book.
Now, that being said, do folks with money sometimes get a better outcome? Of course - Billy's trial will be a very expensive ordeal for him he has to pay the expert, he'll be paying for his attorney's preparation time and trial time. But I have also seen some top notch public defenders out there who work as public defenders because they believe in what they do.
