Default Stupid question....

Every once in awhile someone posts something military-related, or something about supporting our troops, a couple of you respond with "Sempre Fi!" (hope I spelt that right)...anyway, my Q is what does it mean?

Cheers,

Semper Fi is short for Semper Fidelis, which is latin for "Always Faithful".

It's a motto used by the US Marine Corps.

I am very sad to say that I can't make the impression that I served. After my parents had to very gung ho military sons in the family, they decided it was off to college for me. I did try to go back and enlist at the beginning of the second Iraqi war, but I was 36. The cut off was 32 with no prior service. Even with my accreditations as a pilot, I couldn't go.

But I am proud, very proud, to say that my two brothers both served in the US Marine Corps. David was in Beruit during the 1983 bombing of the Marine Corps barracks, and earned a Naval Accommodation for bravery, and Tom was a Drill Instructor on Parris Island.

That's where I learned the phrase "Semper Fi" to "Corps and Country".

I look up to both of them for doing what they did.

But in no way can I take credit or even imply taking credit for having served on my own.
