The site "died" on March 31st? Listing complacency, egos, selfish agendas as the cause of death.

I hate to see her go. The site was a great wealth of information for biker's right advocates like myself.

I have no idea what happened to SOL, but after reading their obituary I can tell you the Hawg Zone constitution was brought about specifically to curb the same issues from affecting the longevity of this site.

I can't tell you how many times I have seen a great site grow out of control and suffer an unfortunate end due to a lack of foresight and planning. I absolutely feel that a scalable site needs the following to succeed:

- community
- funding
- democratic delegation of power

If any of those three criteria are missing then the long term viability of a Web site is questionable in my opinion.
