Question Full face or half's for the Interstate?

Ram suggested a full face lid would be helpful for Interstate travel in the rain. Being the good wife that I am I found someone at work selling a brand new Fulmer full faced size 2 XL in black. $50. Mine! I brought it home with so much pride. Hunny look what I found for you. His reply good looking lid for $50. Slid it on his head and said wow this thing is sized wrong it's way too tight. "Here you try it on". On my head it went followed by near hyperventillation. OH MY GOD I CANT BREATHE. The lid was actually quite loose on my head. Far to loose to ride with but it still felt horrible. Lane swears that with time I will adept to the feel. I don't think I could get out of the drive way in one. It feels terribly claustrophobic.

Our thinking for full face on the interstate was rain and foul weather. Perhaps your visability would be better. (No rain behind the glasses or pelting you in the face etc.)

So who rides a full face? Thoughts? Suggestions? I love long distance travel on the bike but alas I am a creature of comfort

I have a full face that I bought when I was learning to ride. You are correct that it will keep you warmer and dryer in crappy weather. One problem is they fog up easily in the cold so I always found myself riding with it cracked open. Make sure it fits right because if it is to loose it will rattle around on your head and drive you nuts. I also found that my periferal (SP?) vision was a lot less then a half helmet. I use my half right up till the snow flys, and I wear a hood underneath it made by Shampa Schampa :: NEVER STOP RIDING they work very well.

This would probably be the warmest Schampa :: NEVER STOP RIDING

No way for the wind to get in around your neck!

I have a fleece face thingy that I picked up at a uniform shop on an army base that I wear when I ride in the cooler weather. But when it drops down into the 30’s I have a Shoei full-face that I put on with another fleece thingy that goes around my neck that keeps me warm and dry when I ride. The lid has vents for air circulation so as to cut down the fogging, but I still have to crack it abit once in a while to clear up the face shield. But in the warmer weather I do the half-helmet thing, otherwise I’m sweat’n like a chicken thief look’n down the business end of a shotgun with two birds in hand.

I think full face is better the worst the weather gets. I usually wear mine anything less than 50 degrees or in the driving rain.

Iv'e never worn a full faced helmet but I do have a half face one that I will break out if it gets that cold. Other than that I try to avoid rain and weather altogether, Im more of a 90's and hot type of rider ..

Rainx makes a spray you can use on the inside of the shield that keeps it from fogging. Full-Face is the way to go in bad weather IMO. Much warmer, and it doesn't feel like someone is pelting your face with rocks

I agree with Mike. Full face on the Interstate when it's pouring rain is the only way to go.

Cheers,
