VIERA, Fla. -- Well-known motorcycle builder Billy Lane was sentenced to six years in prison for vehicular homicide on Friday.
At an emotional hearing in which Lane tearfully took responsibility for the death of Gerald Morelock, Lane pleaded no contest to the charge.
Morelock died on Sept. 4, 2006, when Lane’s pickup truck hit the Sebastian Inlet park ranger's motorcycle head-on on state Road A1A near Melbourne Beach. Morelock died at the scene of the crash.
