Rename Hawg Zone? Part Two ...

In order to increase our ranking in Google searches for the term "Harley Forums" I am thinking about changing the domain name for this site from HawgZone.com to one of the following. Please for vote for your choice.

Yeah that is what I chose as well....as a marketer you learn early to swim upstream and keep it simple....no sense trying to be cute..... that domain is all inclusive, and cuts to the heart of what you trying to do better then any other

I voted HawgZone Harley Forums because it maintains our established identity while incorporating the needed change to help get us more visibility.

Many who have drifted off may not recognize us without HawgZone in the name.

I'm going to let this poll run a little longer before I change anything name wise.

However, everybody running older forums is getting hammered by Google with poor search rankings. I may not only change the domain name, but I may also wipe out the old software that is running HZ and move us to something more current. If so, I will preserve the forums, but everything else will probably be discarded.

A week ago we changed a bunch of things on Hawg Zone under the hood, like the URL scheme to help us achieve better Google search rankings. The gains have been negligible.

After looking at other sites running the same software as Hawg Zone it has become apparent that Google does not like the structure of the forums, or the presentation of the content.

As such, next week I will be migrating the forums to a new software platform.

I'm still waiting to see more poll results before I pull the trigger on a name change though.

A lot is changing with Google's algorithms and you ever keep up, or get left in the dust. It's going to cost around $500 to upgrade the site and do the migration, but it will be worth it in the long run.
