Ride to North Wall
At the end of June we at attended the Ride to The North wall.
The North Wall was in erected in memory of the Canadians who voluntarily crossed the border, joined the US military and fought and died in Vietnam.
These men were giving American SIN numbers and told they would be treated the same as an American Vet post combat. Unfortunately this was not the case for most, and even more problematic was that their own government did not recognize their service in Vietnam at all. They were in no mans land....many of the returning vets left this earth by their own hand as a result.
A few Vietnam Vets in Michigan, thought that not having any recognition in Canada for their war dead was a travisty. These men fought for years to make this memorial happen, they even mortaged their own homes to construct the wall, after the city of Windosr gave them the land to do it.
Just another reason why I fly the American flag at my house with so much respect. Attached is a video of the day, accompanied by a song that I worte in dedication to these heros..
