Veteran urges holiday revelers to remember those who 'gave it all'

As the grills sizzle and fireworks light up the night sky, Dave Bayne hopes Alle-Kiski Valley residents remember something important:

"They should be thankful that because of our veterans, they are able to sit out there and enjoy their picnics and the fireworks," said Bayne, 62, of Plum. "All the freedoms that we enjoy as American citizens derive from the fact that we have a strong military and those Americans made the sacrifice. They gave it all."

Bayne, who served in the Army and Navy during the Vietnam War era, practices what he preaches as a member of Rolling Thunder, a volunteer organization whose members ride motorcycles to call attention to its central cause: helping veterans.
