Default i'm no longer a virgin

great title huh?

i got my unemployment cherry popped today. i'm on the down hill slide to 60 years old and i've never drawn a days worth of unemployment until today so i consider myself very lucky. the easy painless 30 minute questionnaire took me about 4 hours! jeeze what a hassle, every question was as confusing as it possibly could be, almost not worth it, almost. i planned on taking this month off and then really getting after the job hunt in june but i'm bored already and wondering what i'm going to do to fill this new gap in my life. after only 7 days off so far i'm running out of things to do that dont cost money. anybody got any hints for me? TR you've been out of work the longest, how do you get through your days aside from dealing with the new puppy?

Collect that unemployment. If you have a brother in another state move in with him and draw it there too. That should keep you busy.

I just got back from a weekend with several guys I used to work with. Three are now "retired". One is opening rural Sears stores. One is working for another big company and one is working part time delivering parts for a NAPA store. I hear the auto parts business is one doing well with people keeping cars longer etc.

Maybe part time at a parts store and you deliver all over town and make a small amount and maybe you stumble on that next big opportunity just being out and about.

There is also fishing that doesn't cost much. Riding you motorcycle is fairly cheap in moderation.

Volunteer work at hospitals old folks homes etc. Again meeting a bunch of new people who get to meet you. Someone who meets you will hire you. Hell I would, but unfortunately I don't have a job for you.

Sux Don  I'm in the afore mentioned business{auto parts} it's very busy for us. As George said, there are many retired/semi-retired parts drivers working for AutoZone. Not sure about the pay??? Get out and Ride

OKay let's look at this from a realty based situation. You have worked your entire life. Now the economy has sent the royal screw so your drawing unemployment. 1st of all your drawing the money out of an account your employers have paid into for years. That money was taken from money you could have been earning. In essence it's your money so no sweat there right? Right! Draw the check and use the time to regroup and find what your passionate about.

I know this is so uncomfortable for you but you have worked for it and you have earned it so let it work for you.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and I know there is something out there that is better for you.

thanks moms and everybody. janet and i are gonna be fine. we kind of started preparing for this a year ago. uncle obama(your taxes) is helping us out on the cobra so it could be a lot worse. my biggest problem right now is boredom. i've never been without a job longer than a week or two since i was 14 years old so i dont know how to handle all this free time right now. i'll figure something out. i'm old enough that this is kind of like a practice run at retirement.
