Default Tough economic times in our town

I heard tonight our local paper mill Bowaters is filing bankruptcy. That industry is a major employer in our area. It has a foul sulfur stench when you are close by. My Daddy always said "Don't fuss about that smell Sissy it smells like bread and butter". My Father worked there from the time he was 18 until he retired. I am truly concerned for the community and the impact this may have. I know many of you have the same type of issues in your area. It makes me wonder about the old fashion barter system. What services we can offer one another in trade to ease financial burdens. Just a thought..............

And boys I know where your minds went with that last statement oledance: That is not what I meant. LOL

Sorry to hear about the Mill. This economy isn't looking good, especially for those who are willing to work/earn their living, while those who don't/won't work enjoy the free ride

Yes my mind to enjoy the barter comment

Yes it is sad. People need a way to earn a living. I am afraid I don't see a turn around any time soon.

i hate to hear this kind of bad news. the word manufacturing has all but dissappeared here in albuquerque. i'm beginning to wonder if we even make 25% of what we consume here anymore. we cant all flip burgers or build roads and expect this country to ever recover.

That's sad. Here a company that owns 5 local malls is declaring bankruptcy. That's crazy that a mall can go broke!
I'm sure we'll be seeing more of this before things get better.
