Next to this thing, my Porsche is nothing more than a "grocery grabber."
The "top speed" mode that's locked in with the key makes it less than stable, with no wing to help hold it down, and if the driver touches the brake, or turns the wheel just a little, it goes out of top speed mode and one has to slow down and start over. In "regular mode", it is limited to about 220 - 230 mph. It has the VW "W" engine, but 16 cylinders, rather than VW's W8 or W6. Rather than being in a V - 16 configuration, each cylinder has another cylinder between it and the one next door, execpt above and to one side, so that the clinders in each bank suggest a W. Its not much longer than a V8, just a little taller. It has a crank system of shared rods, and its pretty complicated. According to Bugatti engineers, it actually produces 2000 HP, but loses 1000 of it to heat. Oh, at last report, it costs $1,200,000.00. |
