Do you own a lemon Harley? How about one of these potential lemon Harley bikes?
* 2007 Harley Davidson FXD * 2007 Harley Davidson FXDB * 2007 Harley Davidson FXDC * 2007 Harley Davidson FXDL * 2007 Harley Davidson XL1200L * 2007 Harley Davidson XL1200R * 2007 Harley Davidson XL50 * 2007 Harley Davidson XL883 * 2007 Harley Davidson XL883L * 2007 Harley Davidson XL883R Harley has announced that some Harley Dyna and Harley Sportster motorcycles that were built between October 26 and October 30, 2006 at Harley’s Kansas City plant with the wrong front tire when they left the factory. The bikes were not designed and have not been tested for performance with these wrong tires and could lead to an accident. The correct model tire is number 100190-19 but some motorcycles were built with a model tire number 90190-19 on the front. Although the error was apparently discovered on October 31, 2006 Harley Davidson personnel waited to give official notice to federal investigators until sending a letter dated January 24, 2007. |

A little clarification. The tire's profile of 100/90 vs. 90/90 is NOT a dangerous situation. People switch their profiles all the time!!!! We switch 19" front wheels with 21" all the time! We put 17" or 18" wheels on bikes designed to run with 16" wheels. Who the fuck cares?
If you read the bulletin carefully it says that the 90/90's are an untested, uncertified configuration. Big friggin' deal. I'd like to see the "tested and certified" version of an 8' girder front end!!! HD couldn't GET 100/90 tires because of the Dunlop strike and subbed the 90/90's. When the Feds found out they demanded that HD stop immediately and switch them back. Bureaucratic bullshit. This situation doesn't constitute a "lemon" harley. |
