Default handle bars not square

I just purchased a 2000 Road King from it's original owner. The previous owner was meticulous with this bike. He claims it has never been dropped or dumped. I cannot find a scratch on it plus he's added $1000's in chrome. Here's the issue. I took it for it's first ride last night. The handle bars are not quite square to the front of the bike. Look to be maybe 5 degrees off. At the outside of the handle bars the right side is approx. 1" closer to the driver. The left side is 1" further away. Where the handle bars are attached is under the tach and chrome housing. To me this looks like where the problem lies. The bike tracks straight and true. The handle bars just look like they are mounted crooked. My question is this, is there an adjustment to straighten or square the handle bars to the front end?

Thinking of it like a bicycle where I would put the front wheel between my legs and straighten the handle bars. Any feed back would be appreciated. This is not covered in the service manual I already looked.

Thank you,

Tom

That is exactly what you do. There is some slop in there. Just hold the front wheel and make the adjustment. Shouldn't be an issue. Happened all the time on my 2002 Road King. Man I loved that bike.

GZRGLDGEO,

Thanks for the reply, you were exactly right, there is quite a bit of play in the rubber mounted handle bars. I just bent them until they were straight.

Thanks, again!
