Default 02 indian

I have an '02 indian scout with a s & s 88 (?)...battery drains all the time. I have a trickle charge i have to keep plugged in, but it still doesn't help...have to replace the battery all the time. How do i find what is draining the battery? 3 batteries=2 years...please help...

Trad is really good at these types of problems. He can for sure tell you what it isn't. LOL

Sorry Trad.

They are tough to diagnose, just ask Trad. You will probably have to start disconnecting things to see what you disconnect stops this from happening. You can ohm things out and disconnect things until you see a big difference in the ohms readings and just narrow it down.

Sounds like your charging system is fucked, or you have a ton of du dads on the bike that draw way too much power when it is off....I know zero about your bike....but a basic alternator check would be... start the bike, set your Volt Meter to DC, rev to 3Krpm, and you should see the Voltage rise from 12-12.5 to 14-14.5 volts...if it doesn't your charging system is suspect....also check your stator to ground...

Have you done any work on it where a wire could have got pinched to ground. Maybe in the bars or under the tank?
