Default Cracked Exhaust Pipe

At our first stop on our trip I noticed a large crack in my exhaust pipe just behind the rear can where the pipe splits to go to both mufflers. I thought about putting a band aid on it for the trip with some JB Weld, but the exhaust wasn't blowing out too bad.
By the time we got home yesterday it had gotten worse and the crack appears to go all the way around the pipe.

For some time now I have been considering going to a true dual setup until such time that I can afford to stroke out the moter and convert to a 2 into 1 setup.
This morning I ordered a true dual conversion kit from a company called Fullsac www.fullsac.com out of AZ.
The installation is supposed to take around 2 hours which means around 2 days for me :shock:

Does anyone have any tips or warnings about doing this job myself?

Take your time and don't pinch the exhaust gaskets.

Good luck.

That's pretty common the "Y" pipe cracking... Take a look at the front motor mount to make sure it's in good shape...

Removing an old stock exhaust system can be a real bear. Here are a few tips:

* remove all heat shields
* loosen all clamps
* there is a support bracket which mounts to the 2 starter bolts, remove those bolts
* spray wd-40 or similar on all joints to ease removal
* turn, wiggle, turn, wiggle, turn, wiggle
* drink a few beers
* turn, wiggle, turn, wiggle
* be patient, it will come off

Hope this helps :mrgreen:

I didn't need to start my day with a mental image of you doing a turn, wiggle, wiggle. Lol.

Got all the old stuff off and you were right Lane, I had to do a bunch of turning and wiggling :lol:

When I took the old pipe of the rear can I didn't see any gasket. I scraped the outlet port and there doesn't appear to be any gasket there. when I went to install the new pipe to the rear cylinder with the new gasket I noticed the lip on the new pipe is at least a 1/4 inch, even 3/8ths of an inch longer. This coupled with a thick (at least 1/4 inch) new gasket makes it so the studs won't reach through the clamp to get the bolts started.

I ran out of daylight and the naked chicks went home, so I shut down for the evening and will tear into it some more tomorrow.

look real close for the old gasket. More than likely it is there. The old gaskets can be a real bear to remove. I use a dental pick to remove those.

The screaming eagle exhaust gaskets are much smaller than the stock gaskets and may be a fix for your fitment issue. :mrgreen:
