Default New bars on Night Train

A friend of mine has an 07 Night Train that he wanted to change the bars on. He bought a set that would be on the Fatbob that needed to be internally wired. I was lead to believe that it was not to bad of a job....HUH!
To be able to get the wires thru the bars you must first get the Molex connector's un-done which are located behind the gas tank. They are attached to a plastic board with barbed pins. So to get these out you must drain and purge the tank remove the cross over tube and remove the tank.
Once the tank was off we could now get to the connectors. Now you need to pull the pins out of the connectors so that the wires could be fed back thru the bars. This was a chore since I don't have the pin removal tool, for which we substituted a very small drill bit to release the pins.
Once the pins where free of there connectors we could feed the wires thru the bars and re-assemble everything back together. Overall it took about 5 hrs, with a few visits from good friends and a few cold brew. Really had to take our time and keep patient!!
The end result was that he was extremely happy with his new bars and know one died in the process

Changing bars is not a real difficult task, however, it can be very time consuming depending on the bike. I changed mine out this year and it is a major project on a eglide if you have to change to longer cables and such.

Sorry we did not take any pics. If I knew it would be such a big job I would have taken some for sure. Just to help others to know what they would be in for. The one thing is if I ever do it again I know how to proceed with it.

I have the same bars on my Road King and I find them very comfortable. Normal handlebars feel cramped and small after getting used to larger ones.
