I just went to install my wheels back on my bike and found the rotors had been installed wrong on the front. Not by me, I have never had them off. I had the front tire replaced this year at the dealer, but i am not sure the rotors come off to do this. Could this be a factory fuck up???
Anyway if I switch the rotors to the right sides do I need to get the wheel re-balanced? What do you think??? EDIT: The valve stem is facing you in the pictures. |

Ok, I dug around on the Net and found that HD had a service bulletin out to reverse the discs to reduce break squeal....Who knew? :???:

Brake rotors can make a small difference in balancing, but due to their close proximity to the hub, it wouldn't be a very big difference at all.
Hmm... turning the disc backwards to stop the squeal? They are engineered to hold the braking pressure when installed in the correct way. It seems reversing them would increase the chance for warping? Of course, with some other things I've seen from Harley as of late, this sort of "cure" wouldn't surprise me at all. So - BPU, what cha gonna do? |

BP I would leave it like it is. I have flipped a ton of them to reduce squeal when I was at the dealership... It works..Also while they were off we would spray foam insulation in the cavities under the disc as the empty spaces acted like a resonating body similar to a guitar body amplifing the sound..That also works...
