Default Mufflers

I am doing my winter maintenance right now and doing a couple of jobs while it is in the air. Tried to pull the mufflers off the pipes but seem to have a problem getting them to slide off. They started to move but seem to hang up and won't go any further. They are V&H's big ovals on V&H's dresser duals. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey, penetrating oil and a lot of patience. Just work it back and forth as much as possible.

I tried using those "Jar" opener type tools with the rubber strap, but even they didn't work as well as just good old patience.

Remember the MoCo recommends replacing the Torqa muffler bracket after two R/Rs with them.

Spray it down with WD 40 and wait a while.....then get a set of rubber gloves, you know for washing dishes and shit.....after about 1/2 hour or longer...start wedging them lose

I will second or third all the above advice. Penetrating oil is your friend. Light push pulls perpindicular to the pipe will help. Try to brace the head pipe the best you can as you don't want to have a whole lot of movement there. I have that twisting the muffler slightly back and forth will help if you hit a spot the gets the muffler stuck. As others have said, be patient.

Thanks guys, I used some penetrating spray which worked great. It will probably stink like a bitch when it starts in the spring.
