How do I get rid of it?
If I just plug everything up except the the line from the tank to the vapor valve (to release pressure in the tank) will the carb work right? Could I just get rid of it or do I need to keep the lines together (ie remove the canister and replace with a "Y" fitting)? If it's complex, any step by step from the masters here would be appreciated. Also: Unrelated question - can I remove the speed sensor since I don't use a speedo anymore, or should I just clip the wires down by the engine case? |

You can remove the whole thing. There is a vapor line connected to the carb. (left side of carb) Remove it and put a cap on the nipple of the carb. (You can buy the rubber caps at any parts store). Remove the entire length of rubber hose to the cannister. Now remove the hose from the cannister marked tank and put a vapor valve on it from a non Cali bike. (talk to Kagan about the valve) Or you can shove a piece of cotton ball in the end of the hose. Remove the cannister and throw that POS away.
