Default review of Avon Venom X

Just did 1900km on some Avon Venom X tires. First time on them as I had the stockers before.

Wow. What a difference. The bike is quieter, it tracks smoother, it is stable in grooved pavement, and good on decked bridges. No rain riding yet so can't report on that.

After a gingerly 150km I started to push them. After about 50km of twisties I had taken off the chicken strips on the sides. Super stable. What blew my mind was that I could actually feel what was going on with the front and rear. The Dunlops were like wood, just a dead feeling, never knew what was happening with the tire. I can feel the front, I can feel the rear slide, it is an amazing difference.

I don't care what the wear is like, I will never go back to stock again. So the rumours were true.

As an aside I rode down to Mt. St. Helens. Had a deer jump out while I was leaned in a big 120 degree turn. Could have petted it she was so close. Stupid animals.

Im in need of a new rear tire already - 9,900 miles on the rear Dunlop and its bald . Im gonna go with Avon or Metzlers , whichever my Indy shop has in stock . Funny thing is the front Dunlop has full tread still . Should I change it anyways ?
