Default Squealing

...like a little pig on the downhill runs...

Is it common for the bikes brakes to squeal?? I've only got 5200 km on her...

Might need to give them a good check. My bike brakes don't squeal but the truck brakes do when they need replacing.

The stock sintered pads can make an awful racket. They are a metallic compound that last a long time, but they are a very harsh pad that don't stop particularly well. For $30 a set you can get organic kevlar pads, that will stop better, make no noise and not gouge your rotors like the sintered pads will eventually do. The kevlar pads are a little dusty and don't last quite as long, but they are far better than the stock pads.

I used the "EBC" pads, and found them very, very dusty, although much better stopping power than the stock pads. Have since gone to "Lyndall" pads , they stop better than the "EBC" and have very little dust.

I have no idea who makes the stock pads, but I use whatever kevlar pads I can find. You can buy 3 sets for a bagger for under $120.00 CDN with tax.

Kevlar won't squeak and squeal and damage your rotors. So yes, go get kevlar pads.
